20 Special Ramadan Dua

We all know the basic routine duas to recite in Ramadan, like dua for keeping or opening fast (get them here), but we still need extra duas for our special needs; you know that we can supplicate all day. So, don’t worry; we got you. Here we present 20 Special Ramadan Dua that may suffice you, insha’Allah.

1. Dua for Mercy

Ramadan is a month of mercy, as the Holy Quran started to come down this month. Allah showered his abundant mercy on humanity and released them from the long age of ignorance. This is a perfect time for you to repeatedly make this dua, ask Allah to bestow His special mercy on your life and bring your matters together.

رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا

Roman/ Transliteration: rabbanaa aatinaa min ladunka rahmatan wahayyi’ lanaa min amrinaa rasyadaa

Meaning: “Our Lord, give us mercy from Yourself, and bless our affair with guidance.”

2. Dua for Forgiveness

Ramadan is also the month of forgiveness. According to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), if you keep the Ramadan fasts with faith and the intention of receiving rewards, all your previous minor sins will be forgiven. As for the major sins, you should repent with the firm intention of abandoning the major sins forever. This is your chance of getting forgiveness for all your sins.

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِى خَطِيئَتِى وَجَهْلِى وَإِسْرَافِى فِى أَمْرِى وَمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّى

Dua of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

Roman/ Transliteration: allahummagh firli khatiati wa jahli wa israfi fi amri wa ma anta a’alamu bihi minni. Allahummagh firli jiddi wa hazli wa khatai wa ‘amdi wa kullu dhalika ‘indi

Meaning: “O Allah, forgive my faults, ignorance and excesses in all matters, and forgive all the sins that You know better than me”

3. Dua for Allah’s Closeness

Every believer wants to attain Allah’s love and for that, one should really spend time in solitude with Him, worshipping and making lots of dua. Ramadan brings a chance for you to be closer to Allah.

This is one of the perfect duas for getting Allah’s love. Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) referred to it as the dua of Prophet David (a.s), who, according to him, was the best worshipper.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ حُبَّكَ وَحُبَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّكَ وَالْعَمَلَ الَّذِيْ يُبَلِّغُنِي حُبَّكَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ حُبَّكَ أََحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ نَفْسِيْ وَأَهْلِيْ وَمِنَ الْمَاءِ الْبَارِدِرواه الترمذي

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Roman/ Transliteration: allahumma inni as`aluka hubbaka wa hubba man yuhibbuka wal amalal ladzi yuballighuni hubbaka. Allahumaj ‘al hubbaka ahabba ilayya min nafsi wa ahli wa minal ma’il barid

Meaning: “Oh Allah, I ask you for you love and the love of those who love you, and I ask you for the actions that will lead me to your love. Oh Allah make your love more beloved to me than myself, my family and the cold water.”

4. Dua for Healing

So many of us have welcomed Ramadan with past traumas, heartbreaks, sadness and unsettling sorrow. The following is a powerful dua to solve all your related problems. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that whoever makes this dua in distress, Allah will answer this dua and remove pain from his heart and place happiness and joy.

 اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ عَبْدِكَ وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ نَاصِيَتِي بِيَدِكَ مَاضٍ فِيَّ حُكْمُكَ عَدْلٌ فِيَّ قَضَاؤُكَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ سَمَّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ أَوْ عَلَّمْتَهُ أَحَدًا مِنْ خَلْقِكَ أَوْ أَنْزَلْتَهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ أَوْ اسْتَأْثَرْتَ بِهِ فِي عِلْمِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي وَنُورَ صَدْرِي وَجِلَاءَ حُزْنِي وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي

Roman/ Transliteration: Allaahumma  innee  abduk (a)  wa-bnu abdik (a), wa-bnu amatik (a), naaSiyaatee bi-yadik (a), maaDin  fiyya hukmuk (a),  adlun fiyya  qadaa-uk, as’aluka  bikullismin huwalak (a),  sammayta bihi nafsak (a),  aw  allamtahu ahadam-minkhalaqik (a), aw-anzaltahu fee kitaabik (a), aw-ista’thart (a), bihi fee  ilmil-ghaybi  indak (a), antaj al-alquraana rabeea qalbee, wa nuura SaDree, wa-jilaa’a  huznee, wa zahaaba hammee

Meaning: “O Allah, I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maidservant. My forehead is in Your hand, Your decision applies to me, and Your decision concerning me is fair. I call upon You by every one of the beautiful names with which You have described Yourself, or which You have revealed in Your Book, or You have taught to any of Your creatures, or which You have chosen to keep in the knowledge of the Unseen with You, to make the Quran the delight of my soul, the light of my heart, and to remove my sadness and dispel my anxiety.”

5. Dua for Hellfire’s Protection

The doors of hellfire are already closed, and it’s the worst place for us to be in. Therefore, we must ask Allah for protection from hellfire during Ramadan. Dua is one of the ways that can save you from hellfire, and the following Quranic dua can help you, insha’Allah!

رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Roman/ Transliteration: rabbana innana amanna faghfir lana dhunuubana wa qinna ‘adhaban-Naar

Meaning: “Our Lord! We have indeed believed: forgive us, then, our sins, and save us from the agony of the Fire.”

6. Dua for Everlasting Jannah

The doors of Jannah have been opened in Ramadan. This is the right time to ask for Jannah from Allah. The below-mentioned dua is the supplication of asiya (a.s), the believing wife of the pharaoh, who asked for a home in Jannah and Allah showed her her home there in this very world.

رَبِّ ٱبْنِ لِى عِندَكَ بَيْتًا فِى ٱلْجَنَّةِ

Roman/ Transliteration: rabibni lii indaka baitan fil jan nati

Meaning: “My Lord, build for me, with you, a house in Paradise.”

7. Dua for Glory on Judgement Day

We all want to be treated as Allah’s special people on the day of judgement. That day is going to be a heavy day, but for the believers, there’ll be contentment and peace. So, here’s a dua that you can recite this Ramadan, to mark your seat there as Allah’s special person. This is one of the duas of believers mentioned in the Quran.

رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ

Roman/ Transliteration: Rabbanaa aamannaa faaktubnaa ma’asy-syaahidiina

Meaning: “Our Lord, we have believed, so count us among the witnesses.”

8. Dua for Rizq

Many of us are going through financial difficulty this Ramadan. So, here’s a perfect dua for rizq recommended by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself. Recite this dua, especially during your fasting hours.

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي وَوَسِّعْ لِي فِي دَارِي وَبَارِكْ لِي فِي رِزْقِي

Roman wordsAllahummaghfirli dhanbi, wa wassi li fi dari, wa barik li fi rizqi

English Translation: “O Allah, forgive my sins, expand my abode, and bless me in my provision.”

9. Dua for Sabr

There are times when we feel stuck in life, and everything goes against our interests. We are often surrounded by people who don’t appreciate us or don’t want the best for us. Instead, they spread traps to make our lives more vulnerable. Ramadan is the month when duas are accepted. So, make the following dua and ask for Allah’s help to tackle such situations in life. Because when you can’t do anything, patience and dua save us.

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْراً وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى القَوْمِ الكَافِرِينَ

Roman/ Transliteration: Rabbana afrigh ‘alayna sabran wa thabbit aqdamana wansurna ‘alal-qawmil-kafirin

Meaning: “Our Lord! Bestow on us endurance, make our foothold sure, and give us help against the disbelieving folk.”

10. Dua for Wellbeing

This is one of the best duas of wellbeing. It’ll inshallah help you maintain your spiritual, mental and emotional wellbeing. Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) used to recite it every evening and morning.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَاىَ وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَتِي ‏”‏ ‏.‏ وَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ ‏”‏ عَوْرَاتِي وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَىَّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِي وَعَنْ يَمِينِي وَعَنْ شِمَالِي وَمِنْ فَوْقِي وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي ‏”

Roman/ Transliteration: Allahumma in-nee as’aa-lu-kal af-wa wal ‛aafiyah, fid-dun-yaa wal-aa-khi-rah, Allahumma in-nee as’aa-lu-kal af-wa wal ‛aafiyah, feedee-nee wa dun-yaa-ya, wa ah-lee wa maa-lee, Allahum-mas-tur aw-raa-tee wa aa-mir-raw ‛aa-tee Allahum-mah-faz-nee mim bay-niya-day-ya, wa min khal-fee, wa ay-ya-mee-nee, wa ‛an shi-maa-lee, wa min faw-qee, wa a‛oo-zu bi-‛a-za-ma-tika an ugh-taa-la min tah-tee

Morning: “O Allah, I ask you for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my weaknesses, and set at ease my dismay. O Allah, preserve me from the front and from behind and on my right and on my left and from above; and I seek refuge with you lest I be swallowed up by the earth.”

11. Dua for Light of Guidance

We Muslims try to stay away from evil and do good deeds, but even after trying so hard, we still fall into sins, and that’s why we always need more light of guidance daily. This Ramadan, be sure to recite this dua as much as you can so that Allah forgives you, perfects your ibadah and give you strength to continue living under the shade of guidance.

رَبَّنَآ أَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَآ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Roman/ Transliteration: rab banaa atmim lanaa nuu ranaa wagfir lanaa in naka alaa kul li sai in qadir

Meaning: “Our Lord! Perfect our light for us, and forgive us. (for) You are truly Most Capable of everything.”

12. Dua for Deep Understanding of Islam

There are numerous hadith of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) that describes the high status of those who focus on and gains the knowledge of Quran & Sunnah! So, blend your worship with the knowledge of Islam this Ramadan.

اللَّهُمَّ انْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي وَعَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي وَارْزُقْنِي عِلْمًا تَنْفَعُنِي بِهِ

Roman/ Transliteration: Allahumman fa’nee bi-maa ‘allam-ta-nee wa ‘allim-nee maa yanfa’u-nee war zuq-nee ‘ilman yanfa’u-nee

Meaning: “Oh Allah benefit me with what You have taught me, and teach me that which will benefit me, and grant me knowledge which will benefit me.”

13. Dua for Wisdom

Wisdom is a special quality. It tells you the right way and time to communicate your knowledge with others. Allah says in Surah al Baqarah 269 that whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good. The following is the dua of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s) that you much supplicate in the holy month of Ramadan.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

Roman/ Transliteration: Rab bi hab li hukmaw wa alhiqni bis saalihin Wajal li lisaana sidqin fil aakhirin Wajalni miw warasati jan natin naim

Meaning: “My Lord! Grant me wisdom, and include me with the righteous. And give me a reputation of truth among the others. And make me of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss.”

14. Dua for Respect and Honour

Islam encourages us to honour others and ourselves. Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said in a hadith that Allah is self-respecting and a believer is also self-respecting. Therefore, we must respect ourselves and ask Allah for a respectful position among the habitants of the world and hereafter. This Ramadan asks for respect from Allah.

اَللّٰهُمَّ زِدْنَا وَلَا تَنْقُصْنَا ، وَأَكْرِمْنَا وَلَا تُهِنَّا ، وَأَعْطِنَا وَلَا تَحْرِمْنَا ، وَآثِرْنَا وَلَا تُؤْثِرْ عَلَيْنَا ، وَأَرْضِنَا وَارْضَ عَنَّا

Roman/ Transliteration: Allahumma zidna wa la tanquṣna, wa akrimna wa la tuhinna, wa atina wa la tahrimna, wa athirna wa la tuthir alayna, wa ardina wa-rda anna.

Meaning: “O Allah, grant us more and not less. Honour us and do not disgrace us. Grant us and do not deprive us. Favour us and do not favour others over us. Make us pleased with You and be pleased with us.”

15. Dua to Ask for a Best Decision:

There are times when we feel like we’re being oppressed. And sometimes the oppression comes from our closet people. In such a case when you cannot decide for yourself should constantly ask Allah. Here’s a dua for you.

 رَبَّنَا ٱفۡتَحۡ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَ قَوۡمِنَا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡفَٰتِحِينَ

Roman/ Transliteration: Rabbanaf tah bainanaa wa baina qawminaa bilhaqqi wa Anta khairul faatiheen

Meaning: “Our Lord! Decide between us and our people in truth, and you’re the best of those who give decisions.”

16. Dua for Laziness

We know how being empty stomach all day and feasting ourselves on greasy foods in Iftar makes us feel. We become sluggish, and it affects our worship. Here’s a dua that can help you overcome laziness in Ramadan.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَل

Roman words: Allahum inni A’oothubika min al-ajzi wal-kasal

English Translation: “Oh Allah! I seek refuge in you from laziness and inaction.”

17. Dua for Parents:

Our parents are the medium of our physical existence in this world. Allah chose them for us, and we’re here because of them. We often ask for our forgiveness and forget to make dua for our parents. This Ramadan, make lots of dua for your parent’s sins to be forgiven as well.

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ وَلِوَالِدَيَّ

Roman/ Transliteration: rabbigfirlii waliwaalidaya

Meaning: “Our Lord, forgive me, and my parents.”

18. Dua for Punishment of Grave

We find in many hadith narrations how Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) saw some people being given the punishment of the grave due to their sins. The Messenger of Allah taught the following dua for protection from the grave; and it should be recited abundantly in Ramadan to be forgiven and saved from this heavy trial.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

Roman/ Transliteration: allhumma inee aaudubika min azaabil kabr

Meaning: “Oh Allah! I take refuge in you from the punishment of the grave.”

19. Dua for Success in Life

The following is one of the best duas to attain success in life. This Ramadan, make sure to recite this dua as much as possible.

اللهُمَّ لاَ سَهْلَ إِلَا مَا جَعَلْتَهَ سَهْلاً، وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلاً

Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja`altahu sahla wa anta taj`alu ‘l-hazna idha shi’ta sahla

“O Allah, there is no ease except in that which You have made easy and You make the difficulty if You wish, easy.”

20. Dua for Job

Many of us are constantly looking for our dream job. The following is the dua of Musa (a.s) that is excellent to obtain a job. So, make lots of dua for your job in this holy month of Ramadan.

 رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ

Roman/ Transliteration: Rabbi innee limaaa anzalta ilaiya min khairin faqeer

Meaning: “My Lord! I am truly in (desperate) need of whatever provision You may have in store for me.”– Quran 28:24

How Many Times Should I Recite These Duas?

You can recite these Ramadan dua unlimitedly in the daytime when you’re observing the fast, when you open the fast, in the night after you’ve performed the taraweeh prayer or even in the suhoor period. Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) told us that Allah accepts the duas of the fasting person when he breaks/opens the fast. Therefore, make sure to recite these duas all day, especially in the last 20 minutes after the Asar prayer til the maghrib time.
